I’ll go with #17.

As a side note, I knew about this blog via your tweet, before my RSS feed picked it up. So, if you’re still balancing the pro’s and con’s of Tweeter, maybe that’s a pro?

#13. Less pretentious, yet not obnoxious. By the way…nice to see you on twitter. Although I did have to temper my reaction to Lost to ensure not giving the ending away to you! (i’m just jealous you have tivo, that’s all).

steven good 04.12.07 at 8:25 am

I made one almost identical to #8 but decided not to submit it. My vote goes to #8.

Brandon 04.12.07 at 8:50 am

#8 and maybe a cross between #18 and #19.

Alan Bancroft 04.12.07 at 9:16 am

Number 5. Definitely Number 5
.

jim 04.12.07 at 9:23 am

#8 fits my image of princeton, but I think PTS should be a bit more daring so I vote for #14

I’m a big fan of one-color logos. The chi-rho/PTS logo is clever, but not as straightforward as the seal.

8….and 11…and 17…

I’m indecisive.

#17

Emily 04.12.07 at 10:38 am

I like #19 best, but #17 is a good variation.

David Berge 04.12.07 at 10:40 am

13 is killer, by far the best, though 8 is classic. I would substitue the blue and red seal for the black and white.

Gareth 04.12.07 at 10:42 am

#5 all the way!

Andrea 04.12.07 at 10:44 am

Of course I like #5 (since PTS is the CTS of the north), but my real vote is for #17.

Eric 04.12.07 at 10:45 am

I think #5 is the best.

JennySmith 04.12.07 at 10:48 am

#19, followed by #8 as a close second.

Nathan H 04.12.07 at 10:48 am

I like #8, but think it would be even better if the seal on the left were replaced by the logo at the center of #6.

Emily 04.12.07 at 10:49 am

Sarah 04.12.07 at 11:05 am

#5

obviously.

wb 04.12.07 at 11:25 am

I go with #17,

The first few remind me of all the FCA logos about “God’s Power Squad” and such.

Though, as as jaded senior, #13-15 are a funny claim about the focus on books over Christ (no cross in the logo?)

Impressive work overall.

Jeff 04.12.07 at 11:26 am

I think #5 does a great job of capturing PTS’s true identity and place in life. Well done and bravo to the brilliant designer of that awe-inspiring work of art!

Kendall 04.12.07 at 11:35 am

#5

elizabeth 04.12.07 at 11:35 am

obviously #5 is the best.
#7 looks like a wine label.

and you are the CTS of the north…

Tully Fletcher 04.12.07 at 11:36 am

number 5 is clearly the best

Shawn Blanc 04.12.07 at 11:47 am

# 6 stands out to me the most. I like it a lot. But if I was on the PTS board I would probably pick #17.

casey 04.12.07 at 11:47 am

#5 — the people’s choice!

Kim 04.12.07 at 11:48 am

Yeah, so definitely in favor of #5

#14

Nathan 04.12.07 at 12:14 pm

16,17,18,19,21,22 are all VERY good. They capture a bit of progressive, while still being faithful to the professionalism of the seminary.

If I had to just pick one, it would have to be #18, but there’s no reason not to have variations for things that require less space and use one of those circle logos. They’re great!

Kellen 04.12.07 at 12:18 pm

#8

Danny from CTS 04.12.07 at 12:19 pm

#8 hands down

Zach Walker a.k.a. "Zamby" 04.12.07 at 12:23 pm

I think that all of these are quite silly, except for number eight. So I vote for 8.

bobbie 04.12.07 at 12:25 pm

i think they’d go with #8, but i personally like #14

Claire 04.12.07 at 12:28 pm

You know my vote has to be for #5

Nicky J as in Van Santen 04.12.07 at 12:29 pm

Yeah, 8 is HOT.

I go w/8.

Janice 04.12.07 at 12:31 pm

For me it’s a tough call between 6, 8, 19, 20, and 21. But in the end, I like the classic, monochromatic look, so 8 is my vote.

dkt 04.12.07 at 12:32 pm

#9 is SEXY

Makeesha 04.12.07 at 12:32 pm

speaking as a graphic designer and not familiar with PTS I would go with Nathan on this one but I’d pick 19 if I had to pick just one.. 17 and 19 would go well together - - different sizes and orientations for different usages.

I actually really like 14 just from a creative, web 2.0 perspective - - maybe with slightly more subdued colors it would speak more to the PTS image.

shawn 04.12.07 at 12:35 pm

Yeah, so whoever designed the first four should be shot. Those SUCK. Number 8 is easily the most enduring design worthy of the name “logo.” All the rest are computer peoples’ cartooned-out wetdreams.

josh 04.12.07 at 12:38 pm

i’m glad none of them look like these . . .

http://static.flickr.com/14/93136022_25afa7e458_o.jpg

i mean who would want a logo in the same vein as the most creative people who are designing all the 2.0 identities.

but i agree. whoever did 16-22 is very professional. and is more in the spirit of a classic university like princeton.

I vote for #20. Nice and clean.

Peppy 04.12.07 at 1:04 pm

#13…

corey 04.12.07 at 1:09 pm

#16 for use on various signs throughout the campus and #17 for polo shirts (logo in upper left hand corner). Colors need to stay simple so that in 10 years from now desgin can still be used without looking like it was designed in 2007. Needs to be timeless, simple, and easily marketable.

Chris 04.12.07 at 1:14 pm

I like #8

Matt Heerema 04.12.07 at 1:22 pm

1-4 - ack.

5 - ??

6 - would be a great T-shirt

7 - no, too busy

8 - is pretty conservative. nice and solid

9 - …

10 - waaay too busy

11 - umm…

12 - hmm…

13 - PTS 2.0

14 & 15 - almost…

combine 16 and 17 and it’s pretty strong

18-20 - they don’t look quite finished, but are definitely in the right direction

21-22 - i like where these are headed. they’d probably get my vote

Johannes Silentio 04.12.07 at 1:28 pm

#21

tim 04.12.07 at 1:49 pm

i like #17. #8 might be the most classy, but maybe also a bit snooty?

Andy 04.12.07 at 2:07 pm

I like #19, with #17 as a variation.

Glen 04.12.07 at 2:12 pm

Let’s journey toward a more open and progressive theology … and rename the school while we’re at it.
# 12
Smile.

Robyn 04.12.07 at 2:19 pm

I like the first 3, preferably number one. Many of the others, especially 8 are old school and boring.

Kelly 04.12.07 at 2:23 pm

# 17

jason 04.12.07 at 2:25 pm

I really like 14, and not because it was done by my brother-in-law Josh. When I look at it I think “Wow! The Killers need to get him to do the design for their next cd.”

JPatch 04.12.07 at 2:38 pm

16 …. maybe. things that look good on letterheads don’t look good on t-shirts and vice versa. where are we puttin this thing?

Adam Walker Cleaveland 04.12.07 at 2:39 pm

You can put it anywhere you want Jessica…

JP Manzi 04.12.07 at 3:08 pm

#6

close 2nd…..#8.

Kristen W 04.12.07 at 3:55 pm

None of them make me ecstatic, but #20 is my vote.

Marci Auld Glass 04.12.07 at 4:02 pm

While #5 clearly captures the reality of the situation the best, I suspect that Princeton might be too far into the forest to see those trees….so I would vote for 17.
1-4 are right out. And the ones with only books and no cross make me a little sad.
Nice selection of creative ideas. Huzzah!

M 04.12.07 at 4:12 pm

#17. Classic.

monts 04.12.07 at 4:12 pm

#13

josh 04.12.07 at 4:30 pm

all i’m saying is wtf?

no crosses? why would someone design a logo without a cross. that’s ridiculous.

i mean the cross as symbol of suffering and pain makes a great ornament and piece of jewelry. i definitely think it should be in a logo. it works so much better as a commodity that way.

sorry for being snarky adam. it is what it is.

Horatio 04.12.07 at 4:48 pm

I think #8 is a pretty easy winner. That’s my vote.

Bill 04.12.07 at 4:51 pm

I just noticed that Tony Jones voted for #8. Weird! Why would Tony want old school? I am tempted to go with #17 (or 20), but I think 8 is slightly better - 8 it is.

JEFF BRYAN 04.12.07 at 5:41 pm

I vote for #8, ’cause I think it’ll win.
But my heart’s with #9.

Andy Acton 04.12.07 at 6:14 pm

#8, because it’s the best.
but 17 - end are well done, too.

Troy HB 04.12.07 at 9:05 pm

#17 is probably best update that stays relatively true to the reputation of the seminary, although I have to say I love the look of #14. Wish we were that hip around here.

anna 04.12.07 at 9:26 pm

14. For Sure 14.

James 04.12.07 at 9:45 pm

As a member of the class of ‘87, I have to say that #8 is the only one that comes close to the ethos of the Seminary. Some of the others are simply pandering to design fads. In theology as well as design, sometimes the best things are the classic things…

Robin 04.13.07 at 11:15 am

Clearly #5.

Dave 04.13.07 at 12:04 pm

The acceptance rate at CTS between 2002-2006 of completed applications was 86-92%.

The acceptance rate at PTS between those periods - roughly 25%.

Clearly #5.

Keith 04.13.07 at 12:43 pm

#8

Matt Wiebe 04.13.07 at 2:45 pm

I actually don’t really love any of these. But, if I have to pick one, I’ll go with:

#20

Iain Torrance 04.13.07 at 2:57 pm

What’s with this bizarre CTS inferiority complex? Who the hell cares?

Iain Torrance 04.13.07 at 2:58 pm

Oh. I almost forgot to vote. I vote for #2.

David Berge 04.13.07 at 4:07 pm

13 and 15 are clearly Miller Chapel.

David Berge 04.13.07 at 4:09 pm

The above comment was in response’s to wb’s comment that 13-15 represent PTS’s commitment to books over Christ.

8 is best.

Armen 04.14.07 at 5:03 am

lol…I can’t believe some of these are worse than mine - we better not give up our day jobs for logo design anyway.

I have recently discovered that a logo must work in black and white as well as with colour, therefore I go with 17.

If someone had entered a Princeton Theological Cemetery logo, that would have got my vote! Joke. ;)

djchuang 04.14.07 at 4:18 pm

I vote for #14 (disclosure: I had some help from my graphic designer associate.)

Evan 04.14.07 at 11:14 pm

Ok, so I just looked over all these comments, and #5 - holy inferiority complex Batman.

9 out of 10 that finish their applications get into Columbia, but only 1 out of 4 who do the same at Princeton do - wow.

Personally, I liked the logo we had before our current one, which emphasized “theological” over “Princeton.” Of these, I imagine #20 is the best.
