Finally got to the Pasadena Hilton at 6pm, after a horrendous shuttle experience, but a wonderful conversation with a new friend, Susan, who will hopefully be checking out this blog and reading.
Had a welcome session tonight, and I realize that there are about 110 wonderfully creative, God-seeking young people who desire to enter into the ministry. It’s kind of exciting around here. I met Catherine Chang, who will be at Princeton next fall. She heard that David Sedaris, author of Me Talk Pretty One Day, is going to be in Princeton in October, so hopefully we’ll be able to check him out. I’m rooming with my buddy Travis Simons, who I met at Princeton last fall. It’s a very cool group of people. Also met Mark Zimmerly, who will be at McCormick next fall, and we know some of the same people. I’m looking forward to checking out what these discussions and small groups are like tomorrow. Miroslav will be speaking tomorrow on “Dancing with God” and I’ll be having lunch with Anna Aven after that. Should be fun. More blogging-face-to-face-contact. I’m a little ticked tonight because I tried to get that stupid Starbucks/T-Mobile Free Day Pass and I ended up paying $9.95 (in addition to the $6.95 at the airport). Oh well…I’ve gotten my fix for the evening; chatted with friends, got a fun email from one of my students in Idaho, heard that Kendall Payne will be at The Joint in LA tomorrow night at 8pm (but unfortunately I can’t go) and did some email that needed to be taken care of. I shall now walk back to my sketchy lodging (Pasadena Hilton), pop a couple Tylenol PM and get a deep, refreshing 8 hrs of sleep.
