February 4, 2008
Though apparently my mom has one of her CDs at home, I just recently have become familiar with the music of Quaker singer/songwriter Carrie Newcomer. Carrie has a wonderful folk sound and has become a regular on my iTunes playlist as of late. Carrie is a poet, a theologian, a mystic and sings these folk [...]

I’ve been listening to Rogue Wave for a few years now. Very cool, easy listening stuff. This song is called “Kicking the Heart Out.”

Today’s song comes from artist Kendall Payne. I first heard of her a few years ago from April, and instantly starting getting into her style. We heard this song on “Brothers and Sisters” I think; it’s off her newest album, Paper Skin, and the song is called “I Will Show You Love.”

Today you get a really great song - it’s by artist A Fine Frenzy. Her music is described as “hypnotic piano arrangements under classic American melody fused into irresistible, atmospheric songs with the power to reach around the world.” That’s a pretty bold statement about the music, but it’s really great stuff. The whole [...]

I thought I’d start sharing some music with you on Fridays. I’ll start off today with a track entitled Hysteria by British, new-progressive rock band, Muse. This is off of their album, Absolution. It’s probably a little hard for some of you, but I enjoy the louder stuff sometimes.

A good friend of mine, Keas, has recently been enlightening me with some great new music recently. The album I’ve connected with the most, and the one that has become my permanent study music (as he assured me it would) is The American Dollar (myspace here). Ambient, techno-ish, experimental - whatever you want to call [...]
