This post is part of a technology series called “What?! You’re not using…?” where I’m sharing ten technology sites/apps that I find to be very helpful – and you might too!
Awhile ago I found out about a little program called VisualHub. As I’ve been starting to work more with video downloads, etc., I’ve found VisualHub to be a super helpful program. Basically – it will take any video format you have, and convert it into any other format. Just the other day, someone sent me a Windows Media Video file, and in less than a minute, I was able to convert it to an .mp4 file that I could play from my iPhone.
The only catch is that the program is no longer being sold and it takes some searching around online to find a download for it. You can probably find a copy by googling something like “Download VisualHub Mac” or something like that.
But once you can find a copy, it’s a great program to have around.

You could also try SUPER, which also does video conversion into all sorts of formats. It’s also free, but it’s only for Windows.

Another great one still being sold is Wondershare. (http://www.wondershare.com/pro/mac-video-converter.html) I use the pro version to get all of my videos in the same codec before dumping into Final Cut Pro). Thanks for this series!
Another Video Converter that I use ALL the time is FreeMake Video Converter. It is awesome and FREE (which makes it awesomER). http://www.freemake.com/free_video_converter/
