Thesis is more than just a WordPress Theme

I first wrote about Chris Pearson’s Thesis theme here after I started using it last October. However, I have since come to understand that it’s much more than just another premium WordPress theme. If you’ve worked with Thesis at all, you know it takes a little while to get used to because of its powerful use of WordPress hooks. But once you get the hang of hooks, you’ll realize that you can really make Thesis do anything you want it to.

Don’t get me wrong: Thesis, out-of-the-box, is a really gorgeous theme. There was amazing attention to details in this theme, and outside of a few font changes, I haven’t changed much on my own blog’s installation of Thesis. But the powerful thing about Thesis is that with some knowledge of CSS, you can customize and stylize Thesis to make it look however you want – but you don’t have to change the code of your site! The code stays the same when you make design changes – and you still keep the same powerful SEO code that Thesis is built with. If you want to see some really amazing Thesis mods, check out “You Won’t Believe It’s Thesis!

With my Cleave Design business, I’m now a firm believer in using the powerful code and functions of Thesis as the framework for any design that I put together for a website. And Thesis also puts powerful customization options in the hands of the client, so they get to be a part of the process as well, and they don’t have to rely on the designer/coder for minor changes post-launch.

At any rate, if you are looking for a new theme for your site, I’d really recommend trying out Thesis. If you’re a developer and looking for a new way to think about how you design sites for WordPress, I’d strongly recommend the Thesis Framework for developing. The community that exists on Twitter and in the Support Forums is also really amazing and helpful. Check out this video for more information – and pick up your copy of Thesis today!
