Bruce Reyes-Chow Elected Moderator

Bruce Reyes-Chow has just been elected as the new Moderator of the 218th General Assembly (2008). Bruce is the techno-savvy pastor of Mission Bay Community Church in San Francisco and has been very active in the church. I’m sure he will lead us well this week as we negotiate the business meetings of the General Assembly. However, more importantly, I believe he will lead us well in the next two years, as he has a great vision for the future of the Presbyterian church (which is more important than being able to negotiate Robert’s Rules well).

Looks like things run late there. Here’s how to get home when VTA’s 180 stops running. Make sur you have at least eight pounds of quarters - each bus is a separate fare.
Get to the VTA 22 and take it to Palo Alto
Then the Sam Trans 397 to San Francisco
Then AC’s 800 to Oakland.
Then the other 800 to MacArthur

You know, I have NEVER been excited about such things (as in who is our moderator) - but Bruce becoming it actually gives me some hope. A hope that someone who gets IT is moderator makes me very VERY happy :)

I’m glad Bruce was elected. In that picture though….well, it looks like a pitch-fork and flames in the background. I guess being Moderator can be hell…

Thanks for all the good thoughts and humor. And while I certainly am NOT a RR wonk, can you imagine this year trying to use anything else. Just make it through was the order of the day for me. I know not good, but baby steps. Until there is more trust . . . whew.
