The kingdom of God is a topic that I have been interested in for quite awhile, and I thought it would be interesting to start reflecting on it on my blog more. To begin that, I’ve decided to invite a host of guest bloggers to post their reflections on the kingdom of God here on pomomusings. Over the next few weeks, you’ll get to hear some wonderful reflections on the kingdom of God, and I’m very excited to be a part of the conversations that ensue. So far, the following people have agreed to participate: Tony Hoshaw, Kenda Creasy Dean, Andrew Zirschky, Ryan Dobson, Doug Pagitt, Carol Howard Merritt, Josh Brown, Melissa Johnson Bills, Brian McLaren, Natalie Stadnick, Keelan Downton, Erin Raffety, Joshua Keaney, Tony Jones, Julie Clawson, Scott Andreas, Phyllis Tickle and Stacy Johnson. As you can see, there are going to be some wonderful posts here, so be watching for them.

This sounds wonderful Adam, I am looking forward to it!
Sounds fantastic. I’m looking forward to it.
Reading “Kingdom, Grace, Judgment: Paradox, Outrage, and Vindication in the Parables of Jesus” by Robert Farrar Capon, was pivotal in my own reflections on the Kingdom of God and so I’m eager to read the perspectives of you and your guests!
Very nice! Looking forward to peeking in and reading.
In college I took a class called “Life of Jesus” and the major assignment was to write groups papers on the metaphor of the Kingdom of God from several different hermetical angles. I remember thinking, Why are we doing this when it’s about the life of Jesus? It did not take me long to understand why and I have never read the Gospels and Paul quite the same since. The lesson was essentially that if you understand this master image, you will understand the lessons of the Gospels as well!
wow, quite a celebrity line up. cool.
I’ve always thought of the kingdom of God as just ‘God’s way of doing things’ – which is why it seems such a hard thing to pin down through rational analysis, because God isn’t subject to rational analysis. But I guess we can expect something deeper from your erudite contributors!
@John, it’s not that I asked certain people because they were especially erudite (though some of them are!) but because they are all people who I think have good things to offer and some creative thoughts on the kingdom of God.
Wow!!! Adam, what a line up. I’m excited to hear their perspectives on the Kingdom. Thanks for hosting this.
