Aaron Reibe Cancer Fund
January 3, 2008

Update: Thanks to those of you who have donated so far. You can see the most recent total of donations on the right, underneath the “Aaron Reibe Cancer Fund” badge. If you have a blog, I’d encourage you to post about this so that we could raise even more money thanks!
Today, Aaron Reibe, the brother of a friend of mine from Princeton Seminary, is going in for surgery in Baltimore for a very rare form of cancer called PMP. Aaron’s insurance company won’t cover the surgery, so they have to raise the $120,000.00 for the surgery. For more information about Aaron, check out this article from the Longview (WA) Daily News. Aaron and his family are from Longview, WA - just about 45-min south of Chehalis, the town I grew up in.
They have set up a Facebook group for the Aaron Reibe Cancer Fund here, so please check that out. It also has information about how to donate money on the website (it involves sending a check to a bank in Longview, WA).
In order to make the process easier for those of you who would like to donate some money for this cause right now, I’ve set up a PayPal donation link below. I’ll be accepting donations through January, and then I will write a check to the Aaron Reibe Cancer Fund at the end of the January. Please consider giving - if everyone who ended up on this site in just one day would give $1.35. Please consider giving.
Donations ended January 31st - here is how we did.

Paypal wants $2.00 shipping and handling. I’ll just mail the whole $3.35 to his account.
Thanks for doing this, I enjoy your blog.

I know what you and your caregivers are experiencing. My partner (of 23 years) was misdiagnosed in 2001 with ovarian cancer, only to find out in April of 2005 that it really was PMP Appendix Cancer. Marge was operated on in Balitmore too by Dr. Sardi’s collegue, Dr. Esquivel. Aaron is lucky to be a man, and not to have been misdiagnosed, but that being said, I was by Marge’s side for the hospital stay and she and I know how greuling it is. Our prayers are with you. We were lucky and had insurance. Hope our small donation helps.
