It’s a New Year, and while I’m a few days behind others, I thought I should follow suit and write a “Year in Review” post.
Highlights from the Walker Cleavelands
- We became a one car family.
- Sarah and I went to one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to: Billy Joel in Atlanta.
- We experienced one of Atlanta’s highest pollen count.
- After 5 seasons of living the high life with Jack Bauer, Sarah and I said “Goodbye” to Jack and the 24-family. It just got too pathetic.
- Sarah graduated from Columbia with an M.Div.
- Days later, we moved to New Jersey in a Penske truck.
- We celebrated being married for one year with an anniversary day in NYC.
- I started my summer CPE program.
- Sadie Walker Cleaveland entered our life – and it’s never been the same since.
- I moved (sadly) from my 12-inch PowerBook to a 13-inch MacBook. It was a bittersweet upgrade, but I’ve really enjoyed my second Apple laptop.
- We took our last ordination exam.
- I had my last first day of school.
- We got to hang out with Jimmy Eat World in NYC.
- For some reason, we decided to watch the NYC Christmas Tree Lighting. Quite an experience – one we don’t have to repeat.
- I had the chance to preach in Miller Chapel. It was a really good experience, and I’m glad I did it.
Highlights from the blog
- 2007 was the year of my switch from Typepad to WordPress. I’m still enjoying it!
- I launched my new WordPress blog with a new customized WordPress theme…
- That theme was called Cleaker and went public on February 20 2007. It has been downloaded over 12,000 times since then.
- I hosted an un-official PTS logo redesign contest, and we even had winners.
- I added Google AdSense ads to my blog – monetizing the site. So far, I’ve made almost $30. Not bad.
Highlights from Presbymergent & Emergent Wanderings
- In January of 2007, I started up presbymergent.org. For a recap of the life of presbymergent this year, check this out.
- I was quoted in an AP news article about my thoughts of Mark Driscoll.
- Doug Pagitt interviewed me for the Emergent Village podcast.
- I helped put together an alt.worship service in the Little Five Points area of Atlanta: What do I love when I love my God?
- I winked at Mark Driscoll and then he quoted me in a book.
- Presbymergent had its first official conference in Pittsburgh, and it went very well.
Hopes for 2008
I really don’t know what to hope for in 2008. I’ll turn 28, hopefully lose a few pounds and Sarah and I will go through another major life transition. We will most likely move somewhere new, and we’ll start new jobs or programs. Who knows. I do hope that we enjoy some times of rest this year and that we both are excited about whatever the future holds for us.
