This past week was apparently the right time to begin experimenting with AdSense ads. I think it was last Saturday, December 8th, someone linked my post about the Spinning Woman on StumbleUpon. As you can tell from my Mint stats, I normally receive around 900 unique hits and around 1800 total hits every day. However, that Saturday, I had over 2000 unique hits in one day. Since then, I’ve been averaging around 1700 unique hits each day, except for this past Thursday when I had 2539 and Friday when I must have been linked to again, I can’t quite tell, but I had 4207 unique hits and 9007 total hits in just that one day. That was also the day when my 3 AdSense Ads raked in $7 in one day. Before then, I had just been making around $1/day. I don’t know what a “normal” AdSense amount is to make each day, but $1 a day will certainly pay for my hosting and a beer or two.
I’ve gotten 25,000 hits because of StumbleUpon; it’s too bad that it’s such a random post that’s being “stumbled” and not something more substantive or more consistent with what I try to focus on with this blog. Any hints for getting people who come from StumbleUpon to stay on the site?

Ok, now I am totally depressed by your impressive hits totals. I thought I had something when I popped my average over 100, but I guess I should just learn to accept my true place in the gutter of cool Christian bloggers.
I try to rejoice in my brother’s rejoicing, but really, I’m just thankful one’s hits don’t correlate to one’s chancing of getting to heaven.

I know it’s crazy, but I can’t explain it. I have four sources that all verify.
I’ve had over 800 hits today. I only average 42 per day. ???
It’s one of two things…
1.) I’m testing blogrush one more time. I placed the widget on 12/14. It went active 12/15. I placed a counter under it at the same time.
Bang, this morn… 800+ hits
2.) My sources all say 95% of these hits came from Stumbleupon between 01:00 and 03:30 12/16 EST.
Is there a connection between SU and BR?

You should try to get dug. A lot of people who read the articles on digg are interested in the topic therefore they are lot more likely to return. Stumbled upon is completely random so people will stumble into a site and look for a few seconds then stumble again.. at least thats what ‘I’ do..
tips: i would say just be you and do what you do. otherwise, even if you kept 5,000 hits per day it would suck. don’t sell out for popularity.

Hmmm… you could always try porn. You might get a lot of pastors to stay (based on statistics).
