BlogRush

Date September 20, 2007

I’m experimenting with a few different things on my blog and one of them is BlogRush. You can go here and watch a screencast of how it works, but basically it adds a widget to your blog (which you can see on the right hand side - anyone using Internet Explorer 6.0? Is it messing the sidebars up?), with links to various blogs that are supposedly in the same category as your blog. It’s basically a pretty sweet set-up for link sharing that may potentially give your blog a ton of exposure. I haven’t used BlogRush enough to fully understand the statistics it’s showing me, but I think that my blog is doing pretty well with it. I normally get around 600-800 unique hits a day, with around 1000 total hits. After installing BlogRush, I’ve seen those stats rise. My first day after signing up with BlogRush, I had 927 unique hits and 1303 total hits.

Anyway - it’s free and it’s a good way to possibly build some new traffic to your site. Give it a shot and let me know what you think.

Problogger has a few good posts about BlogRush and how you can best utilize its power to help your blog succeed. Check them out below:

Im at work and we use windows 6.0 here. Your entire side bar is flipped and located on the bottom… and it extended the page. :-(

    Adam,

I had been invited to do this myself and did it. The one thing that proved difficult was finding the feed url that’s asked for. I finally found it, but it was difficult to figure out. Since you know this stuff better than many of us — how best do we do this?

    Looks okay in IE 7.0

I found this link in your sidebar:

    http://www.faithprogression.com

Looks like he’s a postmodern, long-blogging, friend of emergent, computer geek, environmentalist and peace advocate…if that’s not targeted marketing, I don’t know what is!

Thanks for linking over to my site at faithprogression.com. I hope the Blogrush traffic will create some new connections. I’ve noticed that that content is not always well “targeted”, but hopefully it will get better.

Attempted to add it to my WordPress blog, with no success. Followed the screencast walk-through, down to the letter. The code I paste into the sidebar widget seems to disappear after I close the widget box.
Are you familiar with the WordPress setup? Or, can you recommend any BlogRush-ers that made it work in WordPress?

Signed up. Thanks so much, Adam. Haven’t been visiting as much as I should like, hope to do better. Take care, and have a good semester.

I have the same problem as Russell Duren. It seems like a cool thing to add but I’m not able to do it with Wordpress. ?
