Where’s the paxil?
August 30, 2007
Now that is one sad dog. Seriously, anyone know where we can pick up some Paxil for Sadie? Ever since we brought her home from staying with Sarah’s parents, she hasn’t been the same dog. She mopes around, sleeps in her crate most of the time and doesn’t really want to play with us. She just stares at us with this look that seems to say, “Why in the hell did you take me away from the good life I had? I actually had it good for a few weeks.”
And she did. She had a great life. She got to have roam of an entire house and got lots of attention and love. I mean, don’t call Animal Control or anything - it’s not like we abuse Sadie - or that she doesn’t have a good and decent life with us. She’s just making it very clear that she preferred her other life for two weeks.
Clearly we can’t leave her with my in-laws anymore - it takes her too long to recover. Anyone have any suggestions? What do you do when your dog is depressed?

Send her to Michael Vick’s house for a week or so, then when you get her back she will realize how good she has it.

Is she sick? Did she pick up some sort of bug at camp? Ours has come back from time away with “Kennel Cough,” kinda a doggie cold/flu bug.

Stop feeling sorry for the dog and get it some exercise. :-D

Adam,
Try taking her to the park, or a lake if you have one nearby. When our dog, Pepsi, is looking like that, she is just looking for some interaction, or some time to run around outside.

How long have you been home? She will “bounce back”. As Dave said, she may not be feeling well. Is the weather different at Princeton than it was at “Grandma and Grandpa’s”? Did she eat different food? If it’s ‘just’ sadness she will perk back up. My boys get REALLY excited when I come home from being gone and THEN go into mopping mood as if to let me know they did not like being left. Give it some time, ask your vet if you are really concerned and email me if you want any thoughts from the “mother” of three.

Adam,
I am sorry you are not getting the answer you were looking for. For actual Paxil you need a prescription from the vet. I have a similar probelm with mine when he comes home from grandma’s house. He has friends there and is lonely at home.

You REALLY need to post a link to your Mother in Law’s site where it can be easily found. Your stuff is great but she posts scrapbooking and digital photography challenges. You know, the important stuff!
