On the Road: Update #2

Yellowstone

I received an email from a friend today asking if I was okay or not - since I hadn’t updated my blog since the 13th. So, just in case anyone else was worried, I thought I’d post an update. We had a good couple days in Yellowstone (we put a lot of photos up here), and were able to see a fair amount of wildlife. However, it was a very tiring few days, because it seemed like all we really did was drive. And when you drive across the country, to get to a national park which you do a lot of driving in - it can get a little exhausting. But it was fun. We arrived in Idaho on Thursday and I had my Annual Consultation with my Committee on Preparation for Ministry (CPM) on Friday and it went really well. They were very interested in my chapter in An Emergent Manifesto of Hope and wanted to know about Presbymergent and the emerging church. One of the committee members (and a good friend who I’ve done ministry with at Camp Sawtooth) wants me to come back and give a talk at Presbytery about Emergent - so it was very encouraging to hear their openness to learning new things.

Yesterday we just hung around in Twin Falls and then had dinner with the family I lived with while I was in Idaho and some friends from the Wendell church. Today we’re going to go see Ratatouille - which I’ve heard is amazing (one friend even thinks it’s the best Pixar film yet!). Tomorrow after church we’ll go to Missoula and spend a day or two before making the trek back across the country to get our dog (as long as my mother-in-law will give her back to us) and get back to Princeton in time to take the Polity Ordination Exam next Saturday. I’m looking forward to getting back into some more blogging and web/graphic design when I get back, since I’ll have 3 weeks before classes start.

Good to hear about your annual consulation; in the end it wasn’t much to worry about was it? Blessings for your polity ord.

I think we saw the same coyote earlier this summer; about halfway up the Hayden Valley between Fishing Bridge and the Canyon.

Ratatouille is a GREAT movie. It’s not side-busting hilarious (except for one moment) - more like humor at a low simmer.

I’ve only read your stuff in Em. Man. and on presbymergent but wish you the best on your polity exam. I failed the first time, only because I didn’t read a question correctly - so make sure you read the question! More blessings to you…
