A Church For Our Time

For those of you who may be interested, Covenant Network is putting on a conference at Montreat this summer, August 6-11, “A Church For Our Time”. From the website, the conference is described as follows:

Vibrant congregations in a diverse but united church. That’s what nearly all Presbyterians want – but how do we help make it real, in our congregations and in our denomination?

Join Presbyterians from around the country to think together about how our theological heritage and rich worship tradition inform our discipleship today. What is the same yesterday, today, and forever? What might we imagine or do in new ways to be Christ’s body in a post-Christendom world? Add your voice and take home new ideas in this “continuing education” opportunity for lay leaders and clergy alike.

Some of the speakers and presenters will be Paul Vasile, Deborah Block, Jon Walton, Agnes Winston Norfleet, Margaret Aymer Oget and Rebecca “Toddie” Peters (I’m only familiar with Agnes Norfleet, who used to be the pastor at North Decatur Presbyterian Church in Decatur, GA). They also have a special invitation for seminarians. They are waiving the $200 registration fee for seminarians and they have located some very inexpensive housing close to the conference. It should be an interesting event - if I wasn’t still doing CPE, I would love to be up there. I’ve never been to Montreat. So if you’re free August 6-11, I’d consider thinking about attending. You can find out all the information here.

It strikes me as odd that “A Church for Our Times” would use Comic Sans as its font.

Steven - it’s actually not Comic Sans - but…same principle.

God save the PC(USA) from bad design. Seriously. This looks like the church for 1984.
