Spayed Sadie

The picture does not do the situation justice, but Sadie is sad. Today was her big day - she got spayed. She was pretty knocked out and feeling pretty nervous today, peeing all over the vet’s office. Sarah picked her up and I had to come out to the car and carry her in because she wasn’t up to walking. She’s totally out of it - but she did let me take a few pictures (some a big more graphic than others). Luckily, she has very caring parents - because she came home to new treats, dog food, a new bed for her crate, and a couple new toys. Hopefully she gets some energy back tomorrow - but until then, Sarah and I just look at Sadie, look at each other, and feel very bad for the poor girl. Anyone know any good doggy prayers or Spaying Liturgies?

Hey guys! Take it from the ‘mother’ of three…let her sleep all she wants! In the morning she will be up to her puppy self and you’ll be looking at the sheet of info from the vet wondering HOW you are supposed to keep her from running/jumping/climbing/licking for 10 days. Leroy just got his e-collar (cone) off today!

Well, despite the stupor, knocked out is better than knocked up. Thanks for having your pet spade!

You wait until the anesthetic gets out of her system. You can’t keep a good dog down. Still, what a melancholy picture. Kiss her snoot for me.

    Liturgy for a “fixed” dog:

    The Lord be with you
    And also with you

    Let us pray

Divine Spirit, who is beyond gender,
look kindly on your creation, N.,
    who has been spayed/neutered.
Encourage their spirit and bring them to health
with all haste by your gracious mercies.
Grant that we who retain our inward parts
may reflect with inquiring and discerning minds
on the mystery of your own genderless being
and with gentleness enact your incessant love for all the creation
to, N. and to all we meet.

This we ask for the sake of your healing Spirit of Love, who lives and reigns with you, One God, forever and ever.
    Amen

(After the prayer all those gathered may be invited to offer words and pats/scratches of comfort to the one prayed for.)

    =)
