The Family is Complete…
December 19, 2006

Ever since I got my PowerBook, I’ve been a bit of a Mac-evangelist. And my parents’ old Dell desktop running Windows ‘98 was just not cutting it anymore. So last night, after a glorious performance of Handel’s Messiah, we went to the Apple Store in Oregon (no sales tax!) and my parents bought a MacBook. We worked a bit on it tonight - it’s their first Apple, first laptop….it took some convincing to get them to switch over to Mac, but I think that as soon as they get used to it, they’ll love it. So, I’ll be Coach Mac for the next few days, explaining all the wonderful joys of macLife to them.

Bro, there are tears in my eyes — it’s amazing to see your parents converted and saved from the horrors of everlasting Microsoft hell.

What I want to know is: Was The Messiah up to your standards? Did the audience stand at the right moments? Did they (gasp) clap at inappropriate moments? I feel that if anything had gone wrong…we would have heard about it. Yes?;)

Wait a minute, I thought Macs were so intuitive you didn’t need training…
Another myth busted.

When you get tired of converting everyone to Mac, someone will have to convert you to Linux.

Dave, Macs don’t need training, but just as sinners need to learn to leave their old ways, so former Microsoft users need to be retrained and reformed from their old enslaved Windows habits. Macs don’t need training, but Windows needs unlearning.
