Cribbage: Who knew?
November 21, 2006
Sarah decided to teach me cribbage last week. I agreed to it, not really getting all that excited about learning another game in which she would kick my ass, as is the case with most of the games we play. So we started. I’m not sure who won the first game, but then it started to click for me. And I won, and won, and won again. It got to be a little frustrating for Sarah, I think, but eventually I had 8 games to her 1 or 2 games. It was looking to be a decisive victory. However, as you can see from above, she fought back a few games, and we finished with Adam: 10, Sarah: 5. She fought back, but it wasn’t enough. Adam is currently the Cribbage Champ at the Walker Cleavelands.
Update: We’ve currently started Round 2 and Sarah is up two games to none. However, my first hand on our last game turned out to be a 36 point hand! How is that for high hand!

Cribbage is super fun, and maybe this will lead to a little reconciliation after the tensions of AAR/SBL. It was nice to meet you.

Cleave,
I’m sorry to say I think you may have got something wrong here because the highest possible hand in cribbage is 29. A jack and 4 fives.
I saw your post on emergent village and was wondering if you would like to respond to my comment. no worries though. peace dogg

maybe the extra points came in the crib…
is sarah still counting the points for you? cause if so, she should still get a lot of credit for your winning ;)

I enjoy playing cribbage, but am not really that good at it.

Bro,
I can’t believe I’ve been friends with you this long and we never played cribbage! It truly is one of the best two-person card games.
I taught Amanda how to play cribbage and I think the first game we played she won. Tell Sarah I can feel her pain and encourage her because I think the next few times Amanda and I played I won because she couldn’t remember all the rules. Anyway, I look forward to Friday!

If Sarah has been playing for a while, tell her to play Muggins on you. She should hopefully know what that means. Also, in her favor, if you are the dealer, give the deck to her to cut. This should help her score improve considerably and yours decrease.

Game of the gods, Cleave. Can’t be beat.

I agree that 29 is the perfect hand in Cribbage, so (three fives and a Jack of the other suit, and the cut card is the other five), so I’m now highly suspicious of your championship run. Sarah should protest.

People…people.
The other points were in the crib.
Let me enjoy my massive points! :)

Cribbage is one of the top two card games I love, Euchre being the other.
