There are many designers out there who are talking about how to increase hits and search engine traffic to blogs and sites nowadays. Questions about ads and blog-promotion might seem pointless to some, but let’s face it: for many of us who write blogs, we generally like it when we know people are reading it. So a little blog-promotion is never a bad thing. However, many people today are using blogs and Content Management Systems (like Wordpress) to create communities, share knowledge on web design & development, get the word out about products, call for social action and justice, etc. So allowing your site or product to get good web-exposure is very important.
Enter ReviewMe. ReviewMe allows companies and organizations who want to get bloggers to review their products to buy bloggers reviews to share information about their products or services. Over the past few years, my blog audience has grown significantly, and as everyone knows, it is pretty diverse. So it’s not unusual for authors or publishers to contact bloggers like myself to do book reviews of new products that they want to get the word out about. ReviewMe is going to be a huge asset to anyone or any company/organization who needs to get the word out about their site or product. It will also help out bloggers who are trying to find ways to create a little bit of side-revenue for their blog. Of course, it’s especially nice for those of us who are full-time bloggers, full-time seminarians and part-time freelance web & graphic designers to get a little bit of monetary-assistance through the blog.
Does this mean we’re selling out? Giving in to the consumer-side of blogging? That of course is enough for a full series of posts - and maybe I’ll try and touch on some of that. But until then, as long as the ads don’t get in anyone’s way on pomomusings, I see no reason why bloggers like myself who spend a lot of time blogging shouldn’t be able to get some revenue from their blogs.
For advertisers: "get your Web site’s products or services reviewed by related Web sites,
and benefit from valuable exposure, feedback, and viral buzz."
For bloggers: "get paid to review products and services on your site. You control what you review."
