Marriage: Full of Firsts

Date August 27, 2006

We experienced another "first" today for our marriage: Adam’s first haircut by his wife. I’ve been getting my hair ‘buzzed’ (to my mother’s dismay) for the past few years and have just never felt comfortable doing it myself. We finally got some clippers last week and decided that we should give it a try.

Well…I’d say we did pretty good until we got to the back of my head. The back is not so great. Let’s be honest. The back is not good. It’s a little higher than…well, you really shouldn’t see that much neck on anyone. Except for me. Now. Until the hair grows up. Oh well. We did pretty good, except for the back…

dude. i don’t want to overstep my boundaries or anything, but you did say the neck was a bit much. i just think you should use this time to convince people you’re a friar. i mean new-monasticism is a really nice buzz word these days. and you could use that to your advantage. as a side note, what trimmer do you use? i bought one about 2 months ago and get my wife to shape mine too. although i’m growing mine back out to rival brad pitt in legends of the fall.

Reminds me of the first few haircuts I gave my husband. But it looks like you have lovely hair to go with a very nice face. Why not grow the hair & lose the beard?

You need to head to your local Christian bookstore and buy a JC/DC hat to pull low over your brow…

having done this twice myself, a warning:
    1) Do not hand your wife the clippers with no guard to trim the neckline. Otherwise she may accidentily shave a stripe halfway up the back of your head. Not a good look, especially when it occurs two days before your first meeting with the CPM.
    2) If you have a widow’s peak, let your wife know that the front does not have to be a straight line.

All, in all, I learned that Sport’s Clips (its super cuts with some flare) $9.99 is worth every penny.
