Reason #241 for subscribing to your local newspaper
July 30, 2006
Sarah and I were receiving the local newspaper at our apartment for a few weeks, but we decided not to get a subscription. Today, we learned why it might be a good idea to at least pay attention to local news. We found out that a water main broke in our county on Friday, and that the county had issued a boil water advisory, and were encouraging people to either not bath/shower or do it sparingly. We JUST now found out about it, and when I went to the Atlanta Journal-Constituion website just now, we found out that the county has just lifted the water advisory.
Which is great news.
But…not so great for us, and others who haven’t been paying attention to local news. We’ve been showering, drinking, cooking, cleaning and doing laundry with "dirty water." I guess that explains why our stomachs have been feeling kind of…eh.

Re: the Bill Coffin link.
I would love a discussion on “big deal pastors” who had interesting personal lives. Not related to Coffin but interesting: I once asked Barbara Brown Taylor whom she would consider to be other Great Preachers and she named a list of guys — all of whom were sexual misconduct pastors. Discuss.
