Top 20 Superficial Reasons I Love Sarah
March 8, 2006
1 year ago today, Sarah and I decided to start dating. To give it a shot. We figured each other was worth just giving it a shot, so we began. It’s been a whirlwind since then, and now, one year later, we’re less than 3 months away from a wedding! People often say how some of my "I love you Sarah" posts tend to make some people experience "puke-in-their-mouth"-syndrome. So, we wouldn’t want that. Instead, today, I’ve decided to share with you, pictorially, the Top 20 Superficial Reasons I Love Sarah (there are so many more non-superficial reasons I love Sarah, but just for all of you out there who have gotten a bit sick of hearing about those…). Hope you enjoy…
20. She loves books. All sorts of books. She DEVOURS books.
19. She has fun room decorations, frames and wall-hangy-things. Simple, but fun.
18. She listens to country music in the shower and has a fun little shower-radio.
17. She drinks Diet-Coke. Some might say she’s a little addicted. Some might say she’s made ME a little addicted…
16. …and she recycles. I’m trying to learn.
15. She loves candles and has a TON of them. Plus sometimes they are hung by really cool wall-hangy-things.
14. She has an appreciation for art and enjoys creating it.
13. She also has an appreciation for cheesy-Christian-Jesus-statues.
12. She likes to climb and is all ready to go!
11. She’s not afraid to leave a creche out year-round.
10. She’s traveled to Iona and has some very cool crosses hanging in her room.
9. She has a fun cork-board, and we’re on it!
8. More fun hangy-wall-things.
7. She also loves watching movies, and has a fun little DVD collection.
6. She has great taste in vehicles.
5. She’s not afraid to have a little "bumper-sticker-theology" on her car.
4. She’s organized. And that’s hot!
3. She enjoys photography and creating art.
2. She still loves me even when I break her comptuer speakers…oops!
1. She has a little Buddha car thingy. It’s hilarious. Sometimes you forget he’s there and then all of a sudden, he’ll start FREAKING OUT and he really just makes you laugh. It’s great. If you want to see a little video of the Buddha in action, click here.
Anyway - these are just a few of the superficial reasons that I love Sarah - along with all of the other non-superficial reasons that make her the best! I love you Sarah - Happy 1 Year Anniversary!

You should read Harry Frankfurt’s “The Reasons of Love,” which among other things claims that we don’t choose our loves based upon reasons…Or, you could always just retitle your post: Top 20 Superficial Things I Love About Sarah.
Kidding. Fun post.

You forgot Sarah’s greatest trait…she’s a beer connoisseur.

That movie “Sliding Doors” is pretty good.

I always thought it was cool when when after just the right combination of turns the buddha would end up bouncing straight up and down.
Because, you know, it didn’t seem like that should ever happen.

yeah, it’s kinda like that acidic burning in the back of my throat that you can feel in your nose too… like when you eat too much and then lay down too soon… but it’s your show. nice pictures; favorites: jesus action figures, and iona-cross-wall-hangy

So, dude, you had a blog devoted to JUST your Palestinian adventure this summer… can’t we move these Sarah posts to their own blog space… a JUST about Sarah blog?
March 8th, 2006 at 6:34 pm
Yeah, but if he had a blog devoted just to Sarah, no one but Sarah and a very, very few others would actually go to it. And what’s the point of blogging if no one sees it?

Loved the insights into the special things that make Sarah special!
March 8th, 2006 at 11:24 pm
That is really cool. I should do something like that for my wife sometime.
And the Buddha is hilarious!
By the way, just out of curiosity - and I know this isn’t exactly “related” to this post but it seemed appropriate because of Jake’s comment - how’s the “giving up beer” thing going? Is that still on or are you giving it up for Lent as well? Just curious.

this is probably the most pathetic blog post I’ve seen

this is amazingly cute. love it. I find it humorous when people find this stuff pathetic, because they fall into two camps usually
1. those that can be just as cheesy themselves when no one is looking
2. those who will never be that cheesy…and will prolly have trouble in relationships because of it.
forget the haters.
…..that being said though dude, every movie in the dvd picture is bad. all of them.

This is one of the most romantic things I’ve ever seen a groom do! (And I’ve performed a ton of weddings!) Sarah is lucky to have your brand of superficiality in her life! Happy Anniversary! And happy wedding!
March 10th, 2006 at 10:26 am
no, I agree with sam. this is pathetic.
now Liam is going to judge me by throwing me into one of two “camps.” Liam is the real hater here. He is the judege.
And Liam, I am happily married with 4 daughters of my own and I do not have trouble in relationships. So it looks like your BS camps are just that: BS
