Indigo Girls.

Date February 9, 2006

I saw Indigo Girls and Three Five Human last night. It was amazing. Got to sneak down to the 4th row and be incredibly close to the show. They put on an AMAZING show, a great set and the other band, Three Five Human (from Atlanta), was also incredible. They played great songs: Galileo, Closer to Fine, Least Complicated, Romeo & Juliet, Power of Two and Midnight Train to Georgia were some of great songs. I can’t wait to see them again, because they were most definitely worth the price ($32). Someone asked me if I really was a guy if I *loved* the Indigo Girls and was dissing the Stones. Oh well. Amy & Emily were amazing last night…

I’m jealous. I realize that I’m dating myself here, but I remember seeing them in clubs in Athens and Atlanta when they were still known as a “duo from Winder, Ga.” (They sure did pack out Carlos McGee’s in Buckhead a few times before going “big”!

Wouldn’t mind a chance to see them again — and $32/head is a steal!

    So jealous…

I am a male who loves the Indigo Girls and has little respect for the Stones, or at least the 2006 version of the Stones.

I have never seen the Indigo Girls, but I one day.

Just wait until you & Sarah can see them play in Atlanta’s Chastain Park Amphitheatre. Chastain is an experience in and of itself. My wife and I have seen several Indigo Girls concerts while leisurely enjoying a picnic dinner with wine underneath the stars.

c’mon adam, you know i was kidding. i have great respect for the indigo girls for being such honest and compelling artists for such a long time. although their style is not my preference, that doesn’t mean they aren’t fantastic musicians and songwriters.

but i can’t believe all the dissing of the stones of late. maybe it’s because i’m actually in a band and knows the kind of energy it takes. to see them putting it down proper at their age…..it’s humbling. maybe lately we’re used to bands being really polished or not actually playing or singing for real at all. The Stones were never about sounding polished or “tight” and they certainly aren’t going to fake it, even at the superbowl. then and now, they are all about giving rock and roll fans some messy, gritty, fuzzy, energetic, and soulful music. maybe i like my music like i like my theology. Treat yourself to their “Hot Rocks” albums and maybe they will sway you.

one thing that indigo girls have over the stones is that you’d never see the indigo girls sponsoring their tour by the ameriquest mortgage company. if the stone have anything to be ashamed of, it wouldn’t be their ability to rock. it would be their lack of ability to realize they’ve made enough cash over the years and that they don’t need to whore out their concerts goers to ameriquest banners and ads.

glad you had fun, adam. i’ll have to dig into the garage to find some of my wife’s indigo girls cds and give them another listen.

The Stones are coming here (Rio) next weekend. I plan on seeing them because, after all, they’re the Stones. I saw Lenny Kravitz here last year with 500,000 people; they’re expecting 1 million next weekend.

Given a choice though, I would prefer an evening with the Indigio Girls.

Mebbe its my age, but I’ve been an (male) indigo girls fan for 15+ years now, and still find myself gravitating towards their earlier stuff. I’ve always found a spiritual bent to their music that has alternatively nurtured/challenged me. And I’ve never been much of a stones fan, so go figure.

Don’t forget that Don Saliers, professor of theology and worship at Chandler, is Emily’s dad. Had the chance to meet him once too…

I have owned Closer to Find in every configuration imaginable (except 8-track). I enjoy all their music, but this one in particular is a profoundly spiritual work, in addition to being just good music. Prince of Darkness, Secure Yourself, Kid Fears, and, of course, Closer to Fine–these are songs from someone in pursuit of something deeper.

    Adam,

I’m a pretty huge fan of the Indigo Girls as well. Glad you enjoyed the show! I’ve seen them three years in a row now at Humphrey’s in San Diego. They do indeed put on amazing shows, no? The first time I saw them was with a full band and the next two times it was just Amy and Emily. I think I lean toward just the two-piece, but the full band is wonderful as well.

    Peace,

    eric
