I’billin
July 28, 2005

This is the small village of I’billin, just about 20min outside of Haifa. This is the view from the balcony of the flat I’m staying at. I’m staying on the grounds of the Mar Elias Educational Institutions. Basically I’m using these days to stay up late, sleep in, rest, do some blogging, thinking, and processing and to meet Abuna Elias Chacour. I’ll be meeting with him tomorrow. It feels weird to be here. I’m ready to be heading home, but I still have 3 more nights here, and then 2 nights in Tel Aviv (I’m actually staying here in Jaffa). So it sort of feels like a period of advent or something….the waiting until I’m able to go home, but it’s also a time of preparation; preparing me for what I’m going to say when I go home…what I’m going to tell people….how I’m going to deal with people who disagree with me, or who don’t believe that I saw the things I saw…Again, if you’re so inclined to lift me up in prayer, please pray that I would figure out how best to share the stories I heard here…what am I to do with this experience? And how do I share it?

Too bad you’re not using the time to spend with Jews. Jews who have lost family to war, to terror, to Pal’s. Jews who want life without worrying about being invaded, who want to go to school without getting blown up, who would rather raise a family than have to join the army because they have been under siege for the past 50 years.
. . . and if you are then why aren’t you posting it?
