Spring = Sarongs!
April 6, 2005

It’s spring in Princeton finally (it’s supposed to be 70 degrees today!). And you know what that means…well, it means a lot of things. You know the day when "spring" finally hits, and you walk around a university campus, and you’re like…"Uhhh, yah. So apparently everyone got the memo that it’s spring and all of a sudden clothes are starting to come off…" Well, it means that. And it means that people are getting antsy, and ready to be done with school…yah, lots of stuff.
But mostly, at least for Peter and I, it means it’s time to bust out the sarongs…I wore this at Whitworth pretty often my senior year (I was inspired by my Resident Director, Harry, while I was an RA my senior year) and got plenty of odd looks. I received equally as many today…"Uhh, so what is that?"
"Dude…nice…uh, skirt?"
So here you are ladies….Peter and Adam. Sarongs…yah, can it get any better? Any chance we can get a shout out from you IWU or Calvin students reading this blog?? You out there?

We had a group here at IWU that went to SriLanka on a missions trip at the beginning of March and few picked up the sarong wearing from them… :) There you go. shout out from IWU.

But what about pockets?

Are you in the same tradition as Scotsman who wear kilts, that being going commando? Just curious! :-)

oh i am so glad someone asked about pockets…my “sarong” is acutally a skirt, and under the main front fold is this little pocket, hidden, and so useful. i dubbed it the “crotch” pocket, due to it’s location. the reply i got most of the day from various ladies was, “none of MY skirts have pockets…”

You guys are great! Fyi everyone: many Men wear sarongs too - just in the Pacific Oceanic and Asian cultures… So yes, these guys may stand out, but they are no way near odd. You Guys ROCK!

Good job boys! I also wear a sarong, and love it. Props for being secure enough to be comfortable in what you want to wear :)
