.bE @ PTS | Feedback

Date March 22, 2005

Last night we did the .bE worship gathering at Princeton and it went amazingly well. It felt really good to finally be able to share this type of a worship experience with the Princeton Seminary community and from what I can tell, it was received very well. We definitely had the biggest crowd ever (probably around 120 people) and it was wonderful to have so many people involved in the creative process, the setting up (and tearing down…THANK YOU!), the music, communion and other parts throughout the experience.

My favorite part of the evening was just hanging out downstairs as people came down. Everyone seemed to have such a "glow" about them, and they just smiled and wanted to hug and say thank you for the experience. I don’t think we seminarians get enough (or any…) time to simply rest and be in the presence of Christ.

I’ve encouraged PTS folks who attended .bE to come here and leave their thoughts and feedback, so it will be interesting to see if they do come, and what they say. I felt really good about the whole evening, and I look forward to hearing what others are saying about .bE. Also, if you are a PTS student and you want to be included on the .bE email list to help with the next one, please email me and let me know. And a special thanks to everyone who helped so much to make .bE what it was last night (Mandy, Peter, Amy, Becca, Josh, Lucy and everyone else I’m forgetting…). You can view more photos here at the .bE @ PTS photo album.

It was a great night — the marriage of PTS and emergent. I hope that it happens many more times in many new iterations.

And I echo your thanks to all who helped you set it up — all of you added immensely to my Holy Week.

I was blessed, very blessed. I, too, hope to see more gatherings like this one. It was a great time of rest and peace, and I felt God’s presence there.

    Hey,
I’m part of a new church group that is trying to do something similar to what you’re doing there and I’m having a hard time getting my team to understand just what I mean by creating sacred spaces… thanks for posting these, they serve as a great illustration of what I’m trying to tell them.

I’m curious whether any PTS professors attended, especially any in the preaching/worship area. I’ll be really interested in hearing how what the “Worship in the Reformed Tradition” reaction is your ideas and experiences of emergent worship (and I strongly encourage you to take that class as soon as possible…).

Sorry for the grammatical train wreck in the preceding post…

The last sentence should read: “I’ll be really interested in hearing what the ‘Worship in the Reformed Tradition’ reaction is to your ideas and experiences [by which I meant the professors who think about worship through a particular theological lens and teach a class by that name]…”

    Adam,

This looks beautiful and amazing. I’m wondering though, what is dot bE? What does it stand for? What’s it’s history?

    Thanks,

    jon
