Who are you? Pt. II
January 17, 2005
Last summer, I ran a Who are you post, and over 62 people left comments. It was so great to hear about who everyone was that was reading pomomusings and get a chance to “meet” people who were daily readers, but not big commenters. I was getting around 600-700 hits back then, and the average since arriving at Princeton (for reasons I’m not aware of) has jumped to around 1300-2000 hits (yes, not unique hits, but however Typepad calculates them), so I’m guessing we have some new readers, and I’d love to know who you are. So anyway, everyone who comes and sees this post, please comment (if you already did once, you don’t have to, but the questions are a bit different…). Lynden folks: I’m looking for you!

Something to cover: More play-by-play of your schoolwork, keeps those pesky seminary thoughts out of my mind.

Why?: why read any blog? good pictures, good links, good topics, good comments.
Change?: more color - the last two designs you had were better. more color feels warmer and more inviting I think. The pictures add so much to keep the blog more visually pleasing. good work with those.
Topic?: (shrug) I think it’s nice that you break up the theology with life commentary sort of updates - I stay more interested in a blog that presents both the thoughts of a person and everything else that embodies those thoughts. I read a journal for thoughts, I read blogs because I see a person as well.

Profession: Pastor,
Location:Trinity Presbyterian Church, University City, Missouri
Why in the world do you even read this blog?: There aren’t many Presbyterians who are thinking or writing about postmodern issues. I also encourages me to see folks like you who are preparing for ministry.
If you could take over pomomusings for a day, what would you change? (design, content, etc.): If I were to take pomomusings for a day it wouldn’t be pomomusings–it is Adam’s! I like the intersection of issues and Adam’s personality.
The topic you’d like to see Adam cover next on pomomusings: Nothing in particular–actually, as you interact with traditional churches (an apt description of nearly all Presbyterian churches–certainly the one I serve) where do you see people “getting it”, where do you see hope for the future, where do you see new possibilities. As I look back on my on time in Seminary (late 1980’s at McCormick) I realize I little sense of what the church was really like. Any insights and experiences on your part would be appreciated. Keep up the good work.

Why in the world do you even read this blog?: Because your rather self-absorbed, “look-at-me” type ramblings are generally quite amusing; as a psych. major I like to get inside people’s heads and see what makes them tick (aka. why they’re so fucked up) and blogs such as this one provide ample opportunity for that, plus, the theological stuff is intriguing.
If you could take over pomomusings for a day, what would you change? (design, content, etc.): Hmm …. more naked pictures of Adam? (Gee, I can hear the sound of his ego swelling from here!) I’m kidding …. design and content are generally good. After all, as you continually point out, you sure do get a lot of visitors!

I, for one, am totally jealous that Adam has so many readers from Perth. It’s probably because of that smokin’ picture in the top corner. Maybe I should reconsider my previoius answer… :)

Why do I read this blog?: I read b/c of the guilt I had every time I told Adam I wasn’t reading his blog and because Adam is one of my best friends.
What would I change? Not too much, except that Adam needs to get more homework done and less blogging!
Topic on next Pomusing: I think I agree with a few other posts in that Adam should delve(sp?) into his own views, but after all, it is his blog and whatever he wants goes. Heck, I’m one of his best friends and I can’t get him to tell me what some of his views are and now I’m asking him to blab it to anyone who has the internet?!?
January 18th, 2005 at 11:23 am
Adam, you look perfectly scrumptious in the picture in the corner, don’t listen to them. One of the things I like about your blog, and yourself, is that you don’t have to have a die hard opinion on a subject before you are willing to delve into it, and share it with the world. Its almost a vulnerable characteristic, almost. Continue to let us in on the exploration process of the topics you bring up. Andy is right, we can’t expect you to blab your opinion to the world, as many have said, your blog must be true to who you are. I like that you blab the thought process and mix theological concerns with every day life. You almost seem like a real person when I read your blog.

Why in the world do you even read this blog?: I read because you discuss theological topics, but also share your daily life with us. Good balance of both.
If you could take over pomomusings for a day, what would you change? I would probably slip hidden links to my blog so more than 3 people check it out daily.
The topic you’d like to see Adam cover next on pomomusings: I know in the past you had worked with youth if I remember so it would be good when discussing emergence to discuss what that means in the realm of teens. Also, are you involved in any ministry there at PTS? I know about the cohorts, but is there anything else (not saying you have to, I just liked hearing about that stuff before). Sounds like Seminary is a bit hectic and busy. I apologize for this being long, but its rare I have any ideas at all. Posts like this get lots of involvement. More like that (Top ten lists, fave movie lines, things like that).

I’m 28 and writing a PhD in law (human rights).
I’m living in Bonn, Germany.
Your blog is linked to Cheryl’s blog (www.cherylsjournal.com) and one day I checked your blog, really liked it and since then am reading it regularly. I guess I like blogs by people who blog about their faith (gives new ideas, encouragement, whatever) and probably an honest answer is that I just enjoy reading about other people’s lives :)

Why in the world do you even read this blog? To be completely honest, I spend lots of time at the reference desk reading different blogs from friends - that’s how I became addicted to April’s blog…which I followed to yours (I recognized you from Whitworth:) I love being able to follow the questions of faith you are so honest about asking. So….thanks!

If you could take over pomomusings for a day, what would you change? (design, content, etc.): I don’t know, I rather like it as it is. :) Maybe just for the fun of it I’ll change everything to British grammar and spelling. harhar.
The topic you’d like to see Adam cover next on pomomusings: Would like to know what Americans think of the Asian church? What preconceptions do they have etc. Any questions about them? :)

Name: Anna
Age: 30
Profession: Social Worker and soon-to-be Seminarian
Location: Quitman, GA
Why in the world do you even read this blog?: Stumbled over from Jen Lemen’s blog I thing, now I read to get a sneak preview of seminary-I start at Candler (at Emory) in the fall.
If you could take over pomomusings for a day, what would you change? (design, content, etc.): I would like to hear more about what kind of ethnic diversity there is at your seminary, it seems like your whole crowd is young and fairly white, but I might be getting the wrong impression from the pics. And how that diversity plays out in discussions of theology and pomo emergent type stuff. Just curious about that, otherwise keep up the good work.
