Who are you?

Date August 20, 2004

I often wonder about the 600-700 people who end up at this blog every day. Who are they? How did they find it? Did they stay, look around, or just realize it wasn’t what they wanted? What do they do for a living? Etc., etc. So, I’m leaving town this morning to go speak at a family camp in Idaho, and while I’m gone, I’m hoping that each person who visits this blog will leave a comment with the following information so I can get a feel for who is coming and finding my blog. THERE WILL BE PRIZES (although we already gave them away) so make sure to fill everything out so I can award them! To have a chance at getting your prize……

How did you find my blog initially?: Met you at the Allelon weekend. You used my powerbook to check your blog and I found it in my browser history.

Most creative reason for coming and checking my blog: You inspire me! If the Presbies can handle having a wild-bearded beer-drinker like you in their midst, then I have a chance with them.

Your best brag (your chance to just brag about yourself…the best thing…c’mon!): The brag the youth seem to find most impressive is that I got to watch a pre-screening of Schindler’s List with Spielberg after spending the day with him.

Most creative reason for coming and checking my blog:
To see what I might have been doing at your age had I stayed involved with my church and denomination after high school. I’m planning to go to seminary next year but I kind of got lost for about 5 or 6 years during college and grad school. The kind of youth work and stuff you do reminds me of when I wanted to do that kind of thing. Plus, I just like your take on life, faith, etc.
Your best brag (your chance to just brag about yourself…the best thing…c’mon!):
Once I found myself again, I’ve gone from someone who just worked, surfed the net, and went out to the bar every night with my friends to smoke and drink, to someone who is married to an incredible man, lives a much healthier lifestyle, has been chair of the local peace and justice group while it was active, is currently a board member, lay leader, music leader and social action chair at one church and regular attender, friend, and possibly reader in the near future at another church, and is the local political organizer for my preferred candidates campaigns this year. Sorry that was such a big brag, but the way my life has been transformed by my faith in the past two years is something to brag about!

Sorry I didn’t introduce myself sooner.

How did you find my blog initially?: I believe you gave me the address for it as I was finishing up my internship with you.

Most creative reason for coming and checking my blog: I’m always wanting to see what you’re up too. There aren’t nearly enough liberals in the Presbyterian church, so I’m glad you’re involved in it. You’re going into ministry even though you’re not the biggest fan of the church. That’s awesome! The best way to change comething is from the inside. Aside from that, I just really like what you have to say.

Your best brag (your chance to just brag about yourself…the best thing…c’mon!): I play 18 instruments and am still learning…I think that must make me a nerd more than anything else but the only things I could think of were…the other thing I thought of is that many of my friends use me as there own personal library because I own so many books and have read most of them several times so I know them well enough to suggest them. They tell me what they need to reasearch or what type of book they want to read for fun and often times I know exactly which books they need and have them to lend to them

We just moved here (3 days ago!) to help set up a sister church here in Spokane, but the building isn’t done yet, so we’ll be headed to Post Falls for Vespers and Liturgy this weekend. I typed in “Post Falls” and “Orthodox”, and voila! Here I am at your page.

Most creative reason for coming and checking my blog:

Lying awake one night (actually more like sitting), I was suddenly overwhelmed with a desire to read a blog. But not just any blog. The blog had to be speaking of what it means to be the Church, and have musings on postmodernism. I gathered that this was a good choice of name to start such a search, though the details beyond that elude me.

I’ve opened for such musicians as D.C.Talk, Audio Adrenaline, David and the Giants, WhiteHeart, WhiteCross, Goeff Moore and the Distance, Christafari, but now I run away at their mention. Also, I’ve recorded national worship artist David Hunter’s last 3 albums, and MorningStar’s Matthew Donovan’s last live album. I write articles for the “spiritual things” section of an international underground music magazine. I’m also a penguin as well as an elephant, in the mysterious world of the moose with the typewriter - but that would take quite a long time to explain.

Profession: Sophomore in college, double majoring in English and Religion, this summer I’m an office-bitch for “the man”.
Location: St. Paul, MN (school)/Green Bay, WI (grew up, summer location.)
How did you find my blog initially?: I believe it was a link to or from RLP… or maybe The Grace Pages. I’m a bit of a spiritual blogs-junkie.
Most creative reason for coming and checking my blog: You’re able to be in the world but not of it, which not very many people can do.
Your best brag (your chance to just brag about yourself…the best thing…c’mon!):
I once read the first 4 Harry Potter books in a day and a half (before the fifth came out). I’m a bit of a speed reader, actually. It comes in handy for recreational reading, but for class it’s a bit of a hassle because I have to read things twice to make sure I’ve understood it.

Your best brag (your chance to just brag about yourself…the best thing…c’mon!): this only sounds interesting when i’m in theme parks and waiting in line for roller coasters, but anyway, here goes: i was the first guy (besides the roller coaster engineers and park employees themselves), to ride on the first car of the Rattler roller coaster (at the time the tallest, fastest wooden roller coaster) in Fiesta Texas theme park in San Antonio. It was for a publicity photoshoot and they were taking sandbags out of the cars as we entered into the shoot. they’ve since tamed the roller coaster by lessening the first drop, which is sad. anyway, like i said…
