Praying for a wife…

Date May 31, 2004

Today one of our youth was praying for me after the potluck, in front of everyone. She’s also one of my pastor’s daughters and when she was ending her prayer, she said, “And God, we just pray that Adam would be able to find a wife…please guide him…” and I thought - “now THAT is funny” and I knew she was kind of joking, so I sort of victoriously threw my fist into the air - but no one did anything. No one giggled or chuckled or laughed. I thought it was funny. Apparently, everyone else did not think it was funny and was probably praying right along with her…oh well, I guess that just means they love me.

Wow. I’m always amazed at what people do/say in an attempt to “encourage” me. Sometimes it leaves me feeling like I do after I’ve watched an episode of Teletubbies with my kids: “What in the world was that supposed to be???” I suppose that when it comes to encouragement, it’s the thought that counts. =)

Me too, although for a husband. (I’m just hoping it works some day!)

lately i’ve been hearing “do you think it was wise to move so far away? are there any single men in your neighborhood?” and “you need a husband to install your garage door opener.”

like i don’t worry myself enough about the search for my husband…

i’m glad you can take it with a grain of salt. be the you God wants you to be, not the you the elders (or youngers in this case!) want… : )

People should pray alot…when it comes to finding a spouse.
God can help you out. Second, It is in the Bible…but people should marry
believers and not non-believers…It would be very nice if people came
with manuals, then one would know whether if one believed in God, in the
name of Jesus. Anyway, thank you for reading. Goodday.

I am praying alot these days for a wife. I even started praying and fasting for that. I agree with Jessie that I can only marry a Believer. I sometimes get very upset and sad with childhood friends who end up marrying none-believers. For me working as a servant of the gospel in a muslim country. I not only am looking for a believer. I also am looking for someone who is willing to live with me in that muslim country. It’s 16 years now since I first went to this muslim country. I still have no wife. But, with prayer and fasting now, I am gaining confidence that I will find a wife. If not I know that in heaven one day I will be rewarded for staying single in this muslim country. But, it’s not easy.
