Easter Song, please…

Date March 16, 2004

Easter, the joyous season, the season of bunnies, and colored-eggs, and resurrections…and…PowerPoint shows. So here’s the deal. I put one together for Easter last year, and as far as PowerPoints go, I was pretty pleased with how it all turned out (images, narration, music, etc). I used some different stuff, but we played the song “My Redeemer Lives” by Nicole C. Mullen. So, we’re doing another one this year and my friend April and I are working on the narration. I am looking for a different song to use in place of “My Redeemer Lives” this year, but am looking for some good, non-cheesy Easter songs (so, that means you can NOT recommend to me any song that was written by Camp Kirkland). Any suggestions?

[btw, I am going to try to take a little break from blogging every day; we'll see if I can actually do it -- but I will return, no worries]

I recommend “Jesus Said Roll” by Pentecostal Bouffant. It’s actually about Lazarus, but has “roll the stone away,” “I am the resurrection and the life,” plus lots of Alleluias. You can hear a free MP3 at Paste Music.

Dude, you gotta use Keith Green’s Easter Song. At first, you’re like “is this gonna be cheesy” but by the end, you’re all “Jesus, I love you man, you rock!”

    Seriously recommended.

Dru, dude - the song is great! I really do have a thing for Keith Green. My all-time favorite is his The Lord is My Shepherd (which I used to play on the piano all the time). Thanks for the recommendation.

awww man, his “The Lord is My Shepherd” makes me bawl. I love that one too.

It’s so good to hear about another Green fan… these days we’re an endangered species, Cleve.

Have you heard “Still Rolls the Stone” by Bob Bennet. I’d like to see a presentation using that song.

How about Sandi Patti’s Morning Like This? It’s an oldie and a goodie but it has some pretty high notes!

when i was a young man of 18, i got to hear Second Chapter of Acts and Keith Green several times sing and worship with the Easter Song. as soon as they began to sing, everyone else begin to sing too, and stood up and began worshiping, and raising hands, even guys like me who at the time didn’t do that…the Spirit of the Lord was so powerful there…incredible times.
