Just got back from Boise [I read 5 chapters of The Purpose-Driven Life on the way and back, pretty funny, a mom from our church passed me, called and said, “What are you doing reading while you’re driving?” And then I accused her of speeding, which she was…] where the Wendell Boy’s Basketball team won the State 2A Championships! The game intensely aggressive, physical and fast-paced! They played well (obviously you can tell, from the score). I guess last night’s game was a lot closer in score and more intense. It was a lot of fun, and practically the whole town of Wendell was there. This makes Wendell the state football AND basketball champs!
I’ve posted about sports fans before, and I’m normally pretty critical about people who totally get into sports too much. But it’s funny. For me, if it’s something big (like state championship game) – yah, I’ll get into it. I was standing up, sitting down, cheering, yelling at the refs (not too much, but there were some calls…..) and having a lot of fun doing all of it! I guess what I’m trying to say, is that I’m just a hypocrite. Nothing more. But it was fun watching Wendell rejoice and the other team sadly walk off…but I’ve been a fan of the “other team” before, so, it all works out in the end…
