Dead Cow on I-84

Spent today carving down the snow, snowboarding at Pomerelle. Good boarding, good snow; horrible weather. As we were driving home, we saw a truck [with CA plates], with…well, a dead animal in the back (not completely sure what it was, but most likely a cow…). Idaho is an unusual place - but…seriously now. I’ve seen sandbags, hay bales and other items to weigh down the back of a truck…but a dead cow?

As a former ID resident, I feel you man! In SO. Idaho (along I-84 no less) my wife & I encountered the worst stench either of us have ever experienced. It went on for miles before we figured out the source. I passed a car and the back end of a semi came into sight. The entire trailer was filled w/ dead cows, as evidenced by the dozens of legs and hooves sticking out the top. Once I quickly passed the truck the smell was in our rearview. Nothing like some rotting cow carcases to liven up a trip.

My senior year in high school, my whole family (Mom, Dad, two brothers, and I) were stuffed into a regular sized car and we hit a horse on a dark, narrow, East Texas road. It died. We got pretty, um….well, messy. We didn’t put the horse in the trunk, but it’s still my best party story.

Bro.

I live in Texas. Dead things on the roadway, always. A few armadillos, deer, cows, etc. I definately haven’t seen anything as explicit as your little encounter with said moo cow. Good job bro.

Now that I think of it, most people I know in Texas like dead things. Many are avid hunters, killing things left and right. A few of my students are adamant that I join them in a hunting expedition before I depart the Lone Star state. We’ll just have to see about that. Most hunting expeditions are a bit inhumane to me here in Texas, many people have property on which expensive wild game live on (shipped in from exotic locations), and they shoot them for sport. Not a fan.

Did I just ramble? Or on a blog, is that a rant? I am definately not hip to your lingo.

Maybe on a certain roadtrip we can see more roadkill. Let’s make a point of it.
