Orthodox Anyone?
December 31, 2003

A few months ago, I decided to call the St. Ignatius of Antioch Church in Twin Falls. I thought, “Hey, they’re Orthodox, they’re into incense and old stuff…maybe they’d be interested in .bE!” I called at 10.30pm, hoping [expecting] to just leave a voicemail. I was rather surprised when someone actually answered the phone. I ended up talking to Fr Patrick for about 10 minutes, and he suggested we get together and share our “stories.” That was back in September. Fr Patrick is the parish priest for both St. Ignatius in Twin Falls, as well as Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Church [Boise]. He’s a wonderful man, with an eclectic past (Methodist pastor, teaching languages at Fuller Seminary) and is a joy to spend time with. We’ve been meeting every other week [when he is in Twin] for coffee at JAVA and sharing life stories, discussing spirituality, theology and the Orthodox faith. It has been an incredibly meaningful relationship to me. I had a chance to meet his wife today and she is the one who took this picture. I love that God desires us to share our lives with each other.

Very cool! You are very blessed to have such a great friend. (So has he had you seriously consider the Orthodox Faith?) *wink*

I’m shameless, I know! But I am kinda curious how their conversations have gone and what cleave has learned…I wish when I was younger I had had this kind of friendship…
