Ignite the light of hope again this Christmas with the brilliant musical, A Thrill of Hope, from Dove award-winning writers Claire Cloninger and Camp Kirkland. Carols, worship choruses, beautiful narration and Christmas songs combine to tell the incredible story of hope that came to earth as a baby, and by focusing on the beauty of God’s word incarnate, our thrill of hope will burn bright again. Incorporating work from gifted songwriters like Lowell Alexander, Paul Baloche, Eddie Carswell, Tim Hughes, Lenny LeBlanc and Robert Sterling, A Thrill of Hope illuminates the messages of renewal, faith and hope in Jesus Christ.
Uhh, no credit given to Handel?! Though I don’t know if he would have wanted any credit, seeing that they took small portions of his Messiah, and added the “Camp Kirkland” flair to it, so that it sounds like it was composed somewhere between 1987-1994. Goodness. Yes, this was the music chosen for our annual Christmas Cantata, put on by the Wendell Community Choir (which is really just our church and the New Life church’s choirs combined). It was a nice evening and the choirs did a good job, but I think that I just don’t like Camp Kirkland’s stuff. Although, you always know one of his musicals by the ending. It never ends! The last song is generally just a reprise and review of all the other songs. And then just when you think it’s done, the key changes up a step, and you hear the reprise again, and then another key change, and more review, and then a final key change…
Any other churches do any fabulous Camp Kirkland holiday music…?
