Wicker Park Grace
November 30, 2003
Nanette Sawyer, over at Wicker Park Grace, commented on her blog about .bE and some of the stuff we’ve been doing, so I wanted to share with you her site and a bit about her project.
Nanette is a recent M.Div. graduate from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, and she began this project called Wicker Park Grace to “explore grace-based faith.” The following is from the website:
Grace Happens
*A project to explore grace-based faith in Wicker Park.
*Christianity with a mind and a heart.
*Studying possibilities, trying new things, listening with a careful ear.
*Being a good neighbor to friends of other faiths.
*Exploring Christianity with a fresh eye, sharing spiritual journeys, widening our welcome.
*Understanding the eclectic and dynamic nature of Christianity.
Explore away Nanette!

It’s so cool to hear how .bE is spreading all over! This whole blog-world I’m discovering has so many creative Christians with fresh ideas for making the Gospel heard and truly understood. I’m liking it. ;) One of Wicker Park Grace’s statements reminds me of Whitworth: “with a mind and a heart.” The last statement seems especially intruiging. Maybe just because I like the word “eclectic.” Anyway, sounds like a great project!

Thanks for introducing me to this. These things are where I live, in my heart if not in my local church.
I love this: “*Understanding the eclectic and dynamic nature of Christianity.” It’s what the Irish saints did so well.
thrive!,

Hey, friends! Thanks for checking out Wicker Park Grace. There is so much to discover about being Christian and being in relationship with the people in this diverse and dynamic world. “Eclectic” means we’re not afraid to try new things and to bring these new things from many different places. I got the word “dynamic” from someone who’s been coming to our spirituality discussions for a while. She said that after each discussion she felt a deeper connection to Christianity as a dynamic faith. I think that means a faith that grows and changes and remains relevant and somehow true. I think it means a *living* faith…
grace and peace,
nanette
