.bE

Date October 9, 2003

Thank you to all who prayed for .bE last evening. It was a wonderful time. We had close to 50 people show up…and again, around 12 different churches represented. All of the guided prayer/worship time went very well, and then people stayed for about an hour afterward, interacting with the 12 prayer stations (including a communion station).

I was able to get in some “be” time for myself - but it’s still hard when you’re the one who has really helped put something like this together. I think, though, that it will just take time. When I first started leading worship with my guitar, I was pretty focused on the music, and so I wasn’t really worshipping…just playing my guitar. However, through time and playing a lot, I’ve found a balance between being ‘the leader’ and a worshipper.

A friend of mine really enjoyed .bE [check out his blog]. I have also received some comments from others as to how much they enjoyed the service. I’m glad that we could offer this service up to God to be used in whatever way he saw fit. I know that he was present last night - and I’m trusting that many left profoundly moved.

One of the stations we had last night was called the “What is….” Station. We just left sheets on the floor, and asked people what they thought with these words: prayer, life, beauty, love, grace, justice, truth, heaven, and the question “Who is Jesus?” People wrote some very sweet thoughts. Click here to read through the responses.

thanks for the update on how everything went on tues.
pretty amazing from the looks of the photos and how many folks turned up!
    Go GOD!
i really know how long it takes to design and set up this powerful worship experience…i hope you are building a team to help you! get those who really liked the experience to help you design, plan, create the next…knowing you, you probably already are doing this! just want you not to do too much and burn out! cause we need this creativity in the emerging church!!!!
listening to jonny baker and his friends at greenbelt this summer, it is so important to build the community as you create the worship…those guys have been doing alt. worship for a decade and are trying to figure out what is next and how to stay fresh…
from 3 years of doing experiential worship, I can tell you IT IS THE BEST thing i have ever done…but also one of the hardest! and i wished that i had built the communtiy first and then the worship….now i am working backwards….and doing less…
any one need a youth pastor in your neighborhood? would be great fun to work and create with you…just know idaho off the map!
keep up the great stuff for jesus! …and just how did you write that stuff in the pool/sand ?
know i am jealous …in a good way…and keeping bE in my prayers! Lilly

    Hey bro.

So glad that .bE went well. Even in Idaho…how about that. Thanks for sharing the pictures — looked like an atmosphere to jump into worship. I could have done better. I mean, couldn’t have.

    Enough of this.

Congratulations, man! SO glad the Lord blessed bE (then again, me thinks no one doubted it!)

Thanks for the photos — they’re really inspirational — and I know our “ambiance” guy will be jazzed for sure! Thanks for sharing this with everyone.

Adam, just came across your site via linsay martens and I am loving it. Linsay said he might go to idaho and check out bE and if he does, I am so there! Had a question for you though, why are you still seeking seminary schooling? I’m not going anywhere with this, I’m just curious. Maybe someone can convince me that it’s not as bad as my mind would have me believe :)
